I’ve discovered a good website called Civic Genius. Here’s their ‘explainer’ about immigration. It’s interesting, and worth a few minutes’ read during a coffee break. (I take issue, however, with the word ‘explainer.’ Yuck. Module? Unit? Information? Background? Anything but ‘explainer’!!)

After twenty-five years on the farm, I’m adjusting to the adventures of city life. Part of that adjustment is figuring out what I want to write about now, since sheep are no longer part of my daily life. I’m challenging myself creatively by painting with pastels and playing the ukelele as I seek my new writing path.

My nieces husband is a recent new card carrying American citizen. He has been working on it for years and years. The things he couldn’t do were a long list and the proof he had to give about his marriage were funny actually, now. But his last interview the whole family held their breath hoping he would succeed. Yes, he is from Latin America, yes he is college educated and yes he was gainfully employed throughout the whole process. It still took years and lot’s of money to make happen. Out immigration laws are sooooo outdated and racists. They need to be changed and the problem at our southern border might go away with some new laws. Building a wall is just stupid and worthless. It didn’t work in China or Berlin, why would it work now?
So true. Shouldn’t be that hard! Glad he hung in there and made it.
