I’ve been quite frustrated with the online materials that teach civics because all of them are geared toward K-12 students, not adults. I just found a new website that calls itself ‘multigenerational,’ which means it’s hoping to attract adults wanting to address their Civics ‘knowledge gap.’
Is the website perfect? No, but at least it’s not full of cute games and cartoons for kids. Some of the topics covered are: the Historical Foundations of the U.S., the Declaration of Independence, the Constitution, How Elections Work, the Electoral College, State Governments, and the History of Political Parties.

I like the video, very informative. I can’t believe the number of people who couldn’t name the 3 branches of the government. Wow, that was an eye opener. I thought we all learned that in grade school. Looking over their site I was a little disappointed. It didn’t seem to grab me to want to learn more. Not sure how to fix that.
Sheryl, that’s exactly what I thought. Good information but the way it’s presented it just doesn’t grab. I think it’s because adults don’t necessarily want to learn general subject information. They want to learn things that will help them in their lives, increase their skills, etc. The material needs to be presented that way instead, which is what my finally degree project will be about…but not for another year. 🙂
Simplistic language but does pretty well conveying basic ideas.
